Tesla has been a major player in the EV market for some time, and it was the first to deploy self-driving cars. We have yet to see self-driving functions in India, but autonomous taxis such as Waymo and Cruise are popular in the United States. Tata Motors, in collaboration with Strate School of Design, has developed a prototype automobile with self-driving capabilities as well as an efficient solution for commutes and deliveries. Let’s have a look at the Tata Yu concept car, which might compete with the Tesla automobiles coming to India!
Details

Ansuman Mallik and Atmaj Verma created the Tata Yu concept automobile as part of a six-month project at the Strate School of Design, in cooperation with Tata Motors. They worked on bringing the idea to life with Ajay Jain (Tata Motors), Edmund Spitz (HOD of Transportation Design at Strate School of Design), and Thomas Dal (Dean, Strate School of Design) as mentors. Furthermore, the Tata Yu will be self-driving vehicle.
The Vision Behind Tata Yu

The vision for the Tata Yu emerged when the project’s two key architects spotted something. They saw that shipments and goods were traveling the same path as commuters. However, passengers and parcels were transported separately. They came up with the notion of transporting parcels along with 2-3 passengers in the Tata Yu.
Specifications And Design

The Tata Yu is a tiny car that is 3700mm length, 1500mm wide, and 1800mm tall. Furthermore, the Yu has a central compartment that can hold products or bundles. There is a separate cabin that can hold two persons. The prototype car will use hub-mounted motors, but the battery capacity and range have not been confirmed.
Self-Driving Car – Tata Yu’s Uses

The core compartment will hold e-commerce parcels, and there are several boxes to keep them secure. In the future, the truck will be able to automatically categorize packages based on size. The van will pick up the boxes from warehouses and deliver them to their respective places. Passenger transportation will be as easy as reserving an Uber. Two persons can travel simultaneously. To discover a Tata Yu near you, simply use the program to arrange a ride, much like a taxi service.
