Hyundai has previewed a unique race car concept based on the Inster micro-EV. It’s called the Insteroid, and the name describes the concept: Inster on steroids. Hyundai describes it as a “playful interpretation” of the Inster, with design elements inspired by video game aesthetics. The car will be completely presented to the public in early April.

  1. The Insteroid is a unique concept based on the Inster EV micro-EV.
  2. It receives substantial aerodynamic bodywork and a stripped-down interior.
  3. Its styling is inspired by video game aesthetics, and it will be completely shown in April.

The Insteroid’s most distinctive feature, as shown in the teaser, is its huge WRC-style double-decker back wing. The Hyundai Insteroid also features massively flared front and back bumpers and fenders, as well as gaping air vents for aerodynamic effectiveness.

Almost none of the body panels appear to be shared with the standard Inster, and we can see a wide-arch body kit that extends from front to back. The circular LED headlights and pixel LED taillights are the sole features that appear to be shared with the Inster EV.

The Insteriod has 21-inch wheels with aero covers that have three holes in the center. It also features a roof scoop and a large rear diffuser. Meanwhile, the interior appears to be fully stripped out and has a roll cage. Hyundai claims there are ‘fun details’ to find in each piece, including the control buttons and instrument cluster.

The business hasn’t published any technical data yet, but we’ll have more information and a full look at the car’s exterior and inside when it’s officially shown next month.
